Seen!!!

Ever had one of those moments, when you just want to squeal??  Well, Sunday night was one of those moments (and a happy dance followed it :)) 

Sunday night was the 2012 Logie Awards.  For those of you who are reading that aren't from Australia (or have lived under a rock), the Logies is the one night when Aussie TV and soapie stars frock up and receive some lovely gold statues in recognition for entertaining us.  Kinda like the Emmy's, but Aussie style.

This year, the lovely Rebecca Breeds, who plays Ruby in Home and Away sashayed down the red carpet wearing a fabulous dress by designer Siobhan de la Harpe and finished off her look wearing none other then  a pair of our Neon Filigree Earrings from the Rainbow Brite range!!!!!!!!!  The excitement was a tad hard to contain.    And she looked fabulous :)

On Friday, Lovely Sparrow & Co has been asked to exhibit some pieces at the Finders Keepers to represent Etsy!  Another exciting moment, as Etsy has got to be my favourite website, and to be asked to represent them is a dream come true.  Pictures to follow after the event :)

Anyone who is a fan of Lovely Sparrow & Co's facebook fan page would know that I frequent the Southside Handmade and Vintage market every month.  They are honestly my favourite market!  From the lovely girls that run it to the wonderful stallholders, it's such a fun day to be part of.  Lovely Sparrow & Co is there every month and this month will see the market move to their new home, the St. Kilda RSL on Acland St every last Saturday of the month.

So to celebrate the move, the lovely ladies of Southside are giving away $100 to spend at the next market, the 28th of April!  All you have to do to win is become a fan of their facebook fan page and leave a comment on the wall, too easy!

Don't live in Melbourne and are bummed you can't attend the market?  Their fanpage is fabulous and for each market date, they have a photo album which features a handful of pieces available from each stallholder.  Most have their own online shops, so you can still shop online and not miss out.

I love Etsy and Etsy loves me this week.

I love Etsy.  I've loved Etsy for years and year.  But this week I finally got some love back in the form of getting on front page!!  The first one was exciting, but within days my ranges made it to front page 3 times!  The Neon Filigree Earrings and the Turquoise Large Filigree Necklace from the new Rainbow Brite range were showcased on the front page as well as the cute Sweetheart Ring from Lovely Sparrow & Co.  So exciting!

On a side note, comedian and TV presenter Aleisha McCormack is wearing the Silver Circular Braided Collar Necklace as well as the Neon Filigree Earrings here at an Oscar party.  Aleisha, who's show How To Get Rich opens this week has taken a pledge to wear Australian designers, and she is really unearthing some fabulous designers.  Hopefully she may be spotted wearing some more of my designs in the near future :)  You can check out her blog, Love Local Fashion and see for yourself how talented us Aussies are!

New Range - Rainbow Brite

Well, it's been a busy week!  Last week, a new range titled Rainbow Brite was released for the Marika King range and it's been quite successful already.  It's even attracted new boutiques wanting to stock the range.

As you can imagine from the title, it's quite brite and colourful.  There are several neon pieces including a vintage rhinestone necklace that has had a neon yellow thread woven through it.  And many colourful necklaces!

I love these snowglobes but wasn't sure how popular they would be.  Well, the answer is, VERY POPULAR!  Almost all are sold out, but never fear, they will be back in stock in a couple of weeks.

Lauren Moffat Spring 12

How exciting is it when you stumble across a new collection of a designer you've always liked, and you wish you owned the entire collection!  That's what happened today when I rediscovered Lauren Moffat and her new collection.  I love, love, love, love, love it!  I love lace, crotchet, collars and interesting prints and this collection gives you a bit of everything.  *swoon* .....

What's Been Happening...

Well, I've really neglected this blog.  I was going to give up this blog, it was too hard to maintain the way I initially had planned to do it.  I had started playing around on tumblr, but it's not exactly the same.  With so much going on with my designs, I started getting a bit confused about the direction of everything, both lines, inspirations, social media, my poor little brain couldn't handle it all :(

So I sat back and had a real good think about it and I've got a lot more clarity now.  I'll probably change this blog up abit, hopefully something you'll all enjoy more.  It will be more focused on my jewellery designs, what inspires me and other super fabulous independant designers that I'm meeting along my travels.  And alot more original content too.  I often get to go to some pretty cool events and participate in fabulous designer and vintage markets, so I'll probably include more about these (as long as I remember to take my camera with me!).

So any ideas for a new name for this blog?  Something to incorporate my two ranges, Marika King Designer Jewellery and Lovely Sparrow and Co.

What else has kept me occupied?  I picked up a new stockist toward the end of last year, Zara Bryson in Claremont, Perth (Australia).  She had a wonderful billboard promoting her store and my friendship bracelets were featured!!!  I am so crazy about this billboard, and how cute is that puppy?!!

Lovely Sparrow & Co has really taken off as well.  I had never planned to sell this range to boutiques, but I was approached by a wonderful shop in England,  Discovered For You in Southport  who is now stocking this range.  And it's caught the eye of a national magazine, Girlfriend!!  

Being the first writeup from a major magazine, I was so thrilled when I discovered this at the local newsagency!  

In the meantime, the online shop for Lovely Sparrow & Co has been fully stocked with lot's more pieces to come.  A new range for the Marika King line will be released within the next 2 weeks with a new range already in the process of being designed.  And a few other things in the pipeline, so much happening!  I just need to figure out how to fit a few more hours into my day...........*sigh*
