Cool Find....

Ok, so you wanna be a badass, but it's kinda hard to portray that image when you are baking cupcakes. You can grunt and swear all you like, but it still doesn't cut the mustard. Well, I think I solved your problem!

Introducing the Glove & Hate Oven Mitt by Stuart Gardiner. This quirky oven mitt has the word "Love" on the right hand side and "Hate" on the left hand side. Kinda looks like a thugs tattoo. So when the feeling of wanting to be a badass wears off and you've finished baking your cupcakes, you can take it off and sit down and have a cup of tea :)

Designer Spotlight: Showpony

I'm one of those people who always dash off to the shopping centre, then realise I didn't bring any bags with me for those shops who don't use bags anymore. So I end up either juggling a bunch of unbagged items or leave the shopping centre without everything I need. Frustrating!

So I'm thinking of investing in some cute easy to fold up bags that I can either pop in my handbag or leave in my car (as long as I remember to take them with me!).

I came across these really cute calico bags by Showpony. They are quirky and stylish all at the same time. Definitely what I'm after.

On The Streets.....

A bit of a quiet week....

Love the simplicity and detail of this top. I'm a sucker for a black and white combo.

Mr Newton

Summery and bring. The colors really compliment her.

While there may not be anything groundbreaking with this outfit, I am so in love with this jacket! I saw a girl about a month ago with a very similar jacket and when I asked where she got it from, she said it was from an op shop. I was devistated that I couldn't get my hands on it myself :(

Cool Find....

Since I don't particularly take myself too seriously and love a good chuckle, I kinda fell in love with these hand sanitizers. How cute? Imagine whipping these out of your handbag, I'm sure you'd make someone smile :)

Style Me....

Still Chilly
Still Chilly by mking43 featuring wool tops

As much as I'm trying to get into a "summer" state of fashion mind, the weather has other ideas. It's soooooooooo cold! It's too hard to get motivated into creating lovely summer outfits, so I'm going with what the weather is telling me :)

On The Streets.....

Still in my fashion funk, I usually look to street style blogs for inspiration, but being in the Southern Hemisphere and most of the blogs I peruse are in the Northern Hemisphere, well, I'm quite not ready to stay in winter mode! Some of the ones below are abit older, hence the warmer weather outfits :)

Cool Find....

Another thing I miss trawling the net for is interior design ideas. We've been in this house for 10 years and never really decorated it properly. Yes, we have furniture, but it's really missing a personal design touch. All we have are paintings that I've painted and I'm kinda bored of those.

One thing I have come across that I HAVE to have and and have just ordered is this cute sign for the bathroom. As most people, when visitors ask to use the toilet, you direct them down the hall and try and describe which door is the toilet. Well, this little sign will be a dead giveaway that they've found the right room. I soooooooooooooo have to have this!! It's by an aussie company called Mooza designs. It's just so my style too :)

They also do house numbers (also ordered!) and words. I love their prints and designs.

Where to now?

Life has just been flying lately, and time seems to just not be on my side. Between looking after a family and more importantly, 2 young kids, any spare second has been devoted to my jewellery design business. Whilst I have no shortage of design ideas, I just haven't had a second to think about fashion, my other passion. And it's depressing! I once kinda had an evolving style happening, but now, I feel like if I'm not in a trackie, I'm in leggings, and I'm sooooooooooooo over it! When I check out tops, the only thing I can think of to pair them with is jeans and well.............my jeans still don't fit, seriously!

And now I'm at the point, because I feel like I've been living in a whirlwind and have a cupboard of clothes that still don't fit, I no longer know what my style is, or what I want it to be. I've been so uninspired by everything I see. I used to love checking out what celebs are wearing but even that's been leaving me a little ho-hum.

So where to now?

I really need to take some time to rediscover my style (oh, in that spare 0.2 seconds I have every day). And put together some imaginary outfits that would make me feel "yay" and not so "blah". And get me out of leggings. Especially since summer is around the corner, not that the weather feels like it is.

I guess on a good note, I have lot's of great ideas for a pre-christmas range for my jewellery. Dont' know if it'll go with my new style that I'm searching for, but it's all cute and vintage inspired none the less and I'm sure it'll be a hit with many other peoples style :)

So any summer ideas to head me in the right direction? Anyone?

Introducing The Vintage Princess

OK, OK, I said I was gonna come back soon, but once again, I got lost in my crazy world and my poor blog got pushed down my list of things to do :( I really do miss it, but with a family and designing, creating and launching this new range, and taking on new stockists...........well, things have been a lil crazy. We had the official launch a few weeks ago at Lady Petrova boutique in Flinders Lane in Melbourne, a lovely lil tea party!

Anyway, without further ado, here are a few selected pieces from the range! You can check out the rest at www.marikaking.com.au. And many of the pieces are now available to purchase online.
